To Photoshop or not?

I am not a photoshop junky, I have a business called "Thomas Custom Digital" and yet, I rarely photoshop any of my photos. I might be finally getting some wedding gigs here and in the interest of presenting the best final image I can possibly present, my photography sans the photoshop might change. I like keeping my photography a pure form sort of thing, I often even get annoyed at images that others take that I like that I end up finding out they are heavily photoshopped. Its like nothing is real anymore, makes it feel cheapened slightly. But then if one can make a truely awesome picture with some photoshop magic, then why not? This post was inspired by the strobist speaking of an up and coming photographer named "Joey Lawrence" (no not of the "woah" type). Apparently his work is very cutting edge and most his images are photoshopped. The link here shows off some of the guys work and even there is an YouTube video there.
So I guess I have to decide for myself, to photoshop or not to photoshop ? That is the question
Hey. Nothing wrong with using Photoshop and/or its less expensive brothers (Gimp, Paint, etc). Nothing wrong with taking the absolute best photograph you possibly can either. If it looks great as is, leave it. If it needs fixing, fix it. I'll tell you this though, you can spend countless hours fixing on just one photograph using a photo-editing program. I think GIMP is great, and I think I have avoided doing the whole photoshop thing to much cause I realize that I could loose countless hours :) I am testing the Preview Comment now... sure enough errors out. Sorry bout that I will have to figure out how to fix it...
I don't mind some photoshop stuff, but I agree with you. When I see something amazing and it has been heavily photoshopped something about it feels false. I use Picasa to edit my photos. Mainly cropping, sometimes the 'feeling lucky' thing. I find that I want to edit more with digital photos than with film. I guess for me it depends on the picture. I can see how it would be beneficial for you [doing weddings, portraits, etc] to use it. If I were going to pay someone to take my picture, I'd want to look GOOD!
Ya I think photoshop is totally fair game for a paying client who wants to look good. But as I heard by this guy. No amount of photoshop can save a bad picture, so I guess there is some honesty to it all still...
